Apparently, beer is bad for science. This is devastating:

A study done in the Czech Republic found a very strong negative correlation between the number of beers consumed by a scientist and the number of papers the scientist published/citations of their work. However, the reason for this correlation wasn’t given, so it could just mean that being successful at science doesn’t leave you much time to enjoy delicious beer. I’m going with that explanation.
Go enjoy some beer before you get to be too good a scientist!

So, there is actually a pretty good rebuttal of this article on cosmicvariance.
