While Ruth and I were at the beach, we shared an interesting fruit called a kiwano, or horned melon, as pictured below. It is essentially a yellowish-orange, spiky shell full of goo-covered seeds. The goo is what you eat, and it is quite the social event. One has to show off one’s teeth and tongue dexterity by removing the goo from the seeds and then gracefully spitting them back out. It was a lot of fun, and I can only suggest that all five-year-olds be given a sack full. It will keep them busy for days.
